Terms for
working together.
How to use this site, and what to expect when you ask us for a piece, a place at the wheel, or something made just for you.

Who we are and how these terms work
These terms apply to your use of kilnclaystudio.com and to orders, workshop bookings, and custom work agreed directly with Kiln & Clay Studio. “We,” “us,” and “our” mean the studio.
The website is run by the studio itself. It is not a marketplace or a referral service for outside pottery providers. By using the site, you agree to these terms. A confirmed order or booking also has the specific written terms we agree with you.
Website information and availability
We try to keep descriptions and prices useful and current, but small batches sell, workshop dates fill, and details change. The site does not show live stock or reserve a place. Photographs show the character of our work; they are not a live inventory list.
Prices are in US dollars (USD). Sending an inquiry does not create an order or booking, and we are not obliged to accept every request. We will confirm availability and the details that apply before asking you to commit.
Pieces and custom orders
To buy a piece, email us about the item you have in mind. For custom work, tell us what you need: the form, approximate size, quantity, intended use, and any timing that matters. We will discuss what clay and firing can realistically achieve.
An order is accepted when we confirm it in writing. That confirmation will set out the piece or agreed brief, quantity, price, payment terms, expected timing, and pickup or shipping arrangements. For custom work, it may also record the dimensions, glaze direction, and variations that are part of the brief. Please read it and tell us about any error before work begins.
Workshops
A date request is not yet a booking. We will confirm the session, date, number of participants, price in USD, and what is included in writing. Any participant requirements or other practical details will be included in that confirmation.
Pottery is learned by doing, and first attempts often wobble or collapse. We do not promise a particular result or number of finished pieces. Finished work needs time to dry and be fired; we will arrange collection, or shipping if agreed, after it is ready.
Payment, cancellations, and changes
The site has no checkout and does not collect payment details. Before you pay, we will agree the payment method, amount, due date, and any deposit or balance directly with you in writing. Never email card numbers, security codes, or bank passwords.
The cancellation, rescheduling, and refund terms for your order or workshop will be stated in the written confirmation before payment. Those terms apply to your agreement, alongside any rights you have that cannot be changed by contract. If your plans change, contact us as soon as you can. Work already begun and materials committed to a custom piece may affect what can be changed under those agreed terms.
If we need to change or cancel a confirmed arrangement, we will contact you and follow the written terms and applicable law.
Timing, pickup, and shipping
Making and firing schedules can move, especially when clay needs longer to dry. Timing we give is an estimate unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing. We will let you know if something material changes.
Studio pickup is by appointment at 121 Madison Avenue, Suite 2200, New York, NY 10016, USA. Shipping is available only when we agree it with you in writing; the destination, charge, and other arrangements will be confirmed before payment. If a shipped piece arrives damaged, email us promptly with your order details and photographs so we can assess the problem and respond under the agreed terms and applicable law.
Handmade character and care
Hands and kilns leave their marks. Small differences in shape, dimensions, glaze color, texture, handles, and feet are normal in handmade ceramics and are not automatically defects. Screens also render color differently. This does not remove your legal rights if goods are faulty or not as described.
Care depends on the piece and its materials. Follow the use and care information provided with it. Do not assume that a piece is suitable for food, dishwashers, microwaves, ovens, or outdoor use unless that use is stated or agreed. Ceramics can chip or crack after impact or a sudden change in temperature.
In the studio
Visits are by appointment. Workshops involve real tools and real mess: wet floors, clay and glaze materials, wheels, sharp edges, and hot kilns can all cause harm if handled carelessly.
Follow the instructor’s directions and any studio rules. Use equipment only when and as you are authorized to do so, and wear suitable clothing that can get dirty. Tell us before the session about relevant access, health, or supervision needs so we can discuss practical arrangements. We may stop or restrict an activity when reasonably necessary for safety, subject to the agreed terms and applicable law.
Site use and intellectual property
You may read the site, print pages for personal reference, and share links. Do not interfere with the site, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, or use its content to mislead someone about a connection with the studio.
Our original text, photographs, branding, and designs are owned by Kiln & Clay Studio or used with permission. You may not republish the site, reuse its photographs or branding, or commercially reproduce our original designs without written permission, except where applicable law allows. Buying a piece does not itself transfer those intellectual-property rights.
Liability and your legal rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits a right or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. This includes liability for fraud and for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your non-waivable rights concerning goods and services remain intact.
Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the website. We are responsible for meeting the written terms of confirmed orders and bookings and the obligations that apply to us by law.
Questions, disputes, and changes
If something has gone wrong, email hello@kilnclaystudio.com with the relevant order or booking details. We will try to resolve the problem with you. You keep any right you have to use a court, regulator, or dispute-resolution process available under applicable law.
If one part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest can still apply. We may revise this page as the site or studio changes. The revised terms apply to future site use and new agreements; updating this page does not rewrite an order or booking we have already confirmed.
